Frost Model UN Team Takes Home 6 Awards
Fourteen delegates from Frost Middle School traveled to Alexandria to compete in a Model UN conference called TechMUN on the 24th and 25th of March. The Thomas Jefferson School for Science and Technology held the conference, and a dozen middle schools from all over Virginia participated. Although Frost did not take home the Best School award, Frost delegations won many prestigious placings. These include two Verbal Commendations, three Honorable Mentions, and one Outstanding Delegation.
Model United Nations is a competitive club that focuses around public speaking, diplomacy, and leadership. The Frost Model UN team is made up of around thirty students who have competed in conferences across Northern Virginia.
Heman B, a Model UN student leader stated, “Model UN is a super fun United Nations simulation where delegates get to practice their leadership and public speaking skills. As one of the student leaders, it has been super fun working alongside other members to build a strong team. We were even able to win Best Middle School at our first conference of the year!”
TechMUN was made up of seven committees, with two delegations from Frost competing in each one. Although everyone did an amazing job, the prize-winners were Ben K. and Ryan H. (partners), Najat M. and Micaela B. (partners), Kovidh M., Mikaeel T., Masoom K, and Austin J.
Ben K, a prize winner commented, “TechMUN was a great experience. Debate was engaging, and I really enjoyed working with other delegates.” Micaela B., another prize winner, said, “I didn’t expect to win because I thought I wasn’t good enough. When I did win, it made me feel more confident with my abilities as a speaker.”
The entire Frost MUN team enjoyed the competition and had a great time. Even though they didn’t win the entire event, everyone had oodles of fun and will try even harder next time.
Although applications for the Frost Model UN team are closed, everyone can participate in a conference that the Frost team hosts every May, called FROMUNC. Although not all of the details have been released yet, make sure to be on the lookout for updates!

I may enjoy being a student journalist because I like to write in general but current events and news are something that I care deeply about. I believe...
I like writing opinion pieces and hard news. In my free time, I like to read books and draw.
