Mr Hudson is a man of many interests but one interest has always remained, working with kids and just being around the school environment. Anyone at Frost could tell you, Mr. Hudson loves his job.
Some of Mr. Hudson’s other interests before his current job as Assistant principal at Frost, was becoming a Physical therapist and going to culinary School. He first wanted to work in the Medical Field and pursue PT, but decided that wasn’t the right path for him. His plans for his career took a sudden swerve when he decided that instead of college he wanted to go to culinary school.
But, even though he was drawn to culinary school rather than college his parents encouraged him to get a higher education so he ended up going to college for PT.
In college Mr.Hudson was studying PT, and he also got a degree in education, just in case. He finally decided to quit PT and decided he wanted to become an educator. This is where his path began.
He first started as a PE teacher, he enjoyed that position because he grew up playing sports and likes to spend time with the kids. He thought it was cool he got to teach them how to play different sports.
Even though Mr. Hudson started off as a P.E teacher, he didn’t stay one for long. Mr.Hudson became an assistant principal. He was an assistant principal at a couple of different schools before he became one at Frost Middle school.
“At first it was hard to get hired, since so many people wanted the job of an educator.” stated Mr. Hudson, “I even passed down important opportunities so as not to lose my spot to teach PE. This is very different nowadays where most schools are looking for teachers.”
He says he likes his job as an administrator/assistant principal. “I want to hear students voices to understand other people’s point of view,” said Mr. Hudson, in addition to this he also said that, “as much as I like being an assistant principal, I wish I could be in the classroom more”.
One thing that Mr. Hudson enjoys about his job, is that he gets to interact with kids, this being the reason he wishes he could get into the classroom more.
“My views of the school and learning really changed once I started learning more about other kids’ points of view and listening to their thoughts and feelings.”
Despite working in the school, some of Mr. Hudson’s hobbies include hiking, gardening, and cooking. In highschool he participated in football, track, wrestling, and lacrosse. He also likes the Washington Commander football team.
Lastly Mr. Hudson is a helping hand; he’s always ready to help out students whenever they may need, and he’s a friendly face to see in the halls.
