Ms. Mojado-Ligan’s Life-Long Journey Through Science
From dreaming about the stars to teaching the elements, Ms. Mojado-Ligan has been fascinated by science since she was very young. Her lifelong passion for science has culminated in her current job as a science teacher for Frost Middle School.
Since childhood, Ms. Mojado-Ligan always had a keen interest in STEM, albeit with a specific preference for science. “I’ve always been interested in science and math, but it’s always been in science first,” she explained.
She had always looked up to those working in the science and math fields early on, with her father working as a mechanical engineer.
“As I got older, and I understood what my father was doing, it just grew on me.” Raised in a family full of engineers, she was constantly exposed to STEM, and only grew to truly understand and appreciate it with time.
When she was younger, Ms. Mojado-Ligan was “obsessed” with astronomy. She had originally planned to get her degree in it, but changed when she was offered to join a program specializing in chemistry and physics at the University of San Carlos in Cebu, Philippines.
Ms. Mojado-Ligan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Physics and Chemistry. She considers these to be her favorite branches of science, due to how frequently she practices them.
After graduating, she immediately began teaching, eventually accruing around two decades of teaching experience today. In 2018, Ms. Mojado-Ligan was awarded the “Outstanding Science Teacher Award,” by the Virginia Association of Science Teachers– a testimony to her hard work and dedication!
Ms. Mojado-Ligan believes that “teaching is grounded in ethics.” She thinks that teachers have to be kind and compassionate people. However, it’s not just the kind of person a teacher is which makes them successful, but the people around them as well. “I believe that teaching is a community endeavor, I would never be able to succeed by myself without the help of parents and students.”
Ms. Mojado-Ligan is so much more than just a teacher. She’s a DIY craft lover, enjoys exploring the outdoors, and can easily fall asleep in the harshest of thunderstorms. Ms. Mojado-Ligan, an extraordinary scientist, mother, and gift to the world.

I adore almost all forms of art (visual arts, music, literature, etc.) and all kinds of horror media like movies and novels. I tend to write more factual...
I like writing about current events in our society. I read fantasy books in my free time.
