Do you ever get scared of planes when going on vacation? Or perhaps you just dislike the airport experience. Either way, road trips may be a better fit for you! If you’re going somewhere nearby, like a neighboring state, I would recommend using a car instead of a plane as a means of transport.
Many people get anxious on flights, but not in car rides on account of safety. Car rides are safer than planes; even though there are more car crashes, plane crashes are deadlier. This is because cars have GPS, automatic braking, anti-lock brakes, lane assists, and parking sensors. With those, devastating car crashes are avoidable.
When making a decision, another angle to consider is cost. Airlines charge you additional fees for luggage that you bring, but for road trips, you can bring anything without hiking up the price. Similarly, if you have a pet, you could easily bring it on the trip without paying cargo fees. Plus, your pets would be more relaxed. Illustrating the cost efficiency of road trips, Mark from “Mark’s Travel Journey” says that after all of his road trip journeys, he saved more money driving than taking planes. Furthermore, Becca Stanek from newspaper “The Week” says that driving is less expensive than taking a plane.
Undermining the convenience of road trips, it is important to acknowledge that plane rides take significantly less time. While that is true, passengers who are driving to destinations nearby may experience similar travel times considering the time that checking luggage and TSA take.
All of these factors are worth considering when planning your next trip. Despite some exceptions, road trips are often optimal over plane rides because they offer safer, cheaper, and more comfortable travel for passengers.
