A new fast food restaurant is rising to the top. Raising Cane’s was founded only 28 years ago in Louisiana. This fast food chain started becoming popular after many discovered and praised Cane’s fresh homemade sauce and tender fried chicken.
The most popular order at Raising Cane’s is the Box Combo without coleslaw, with extra Texas Toast. This comes with four pieces of chicken fingers, one side of crispy fries, two Texas Toasts, a container of Cane’s sauce, and a drink. All of this is sold at the small price of $12.29.
The atmosphere of the Falls Church location is very vibrant. There are colorful murals on the walls, and disco balls shining in colorful lights. Most people who were dining were students or young professionals. The vibe is casual and relaxing and seems like a perfect place to hang out with friends.
After placing the order, I waited at the table for only six minutes before my name was called. The food came hot and freshly made.
First, I tasted the chicken fingers. They were simply delicious. The inside was tender and juicy and the outside was perfectly crispy without too much breading. I personally do not like too much breading on my fried chicken so these Cane’s chicken fingers definitely caught my attention.
Next, I tried the Texas Toast. This toast is a bit thicker than normal bread. I noticed that only one side of the bread was toasted. The texture of this bread is very soft and light. Not having much flavor on its own, the bread matches perfectly with the Cane’s sauce, giving it a unique flavor. After sitting around for a few minutes, I noticed that the toast started becoming a bit soggy. For the best experience, you should eat the toast quickly before it gets soggy.
After that, I tested the crinkle cut fries. These fries are slightly above average but paired with the Cane’s sauce, these move from a 8/10 to a 9/10. These fries are more on the thicker side. They are not as crispy as, for example, McDonald’s fries. I really enjoyed their more potato texture rather than a fried crispy texture. These fries also don’t get soggy very easily, so they are good to be enjoyed any time (but I would recommend eating them while they’re still hot). My only note on these fries is that they are a bit too salty. Other than that, these fries are very well made.
Finally, we have the famous Cane’s sauce. This orange sauce has a very heavy flavor. It is thick and creamy with a distinct taste of black pepper. This sauce pairs nicely with the chicken fingers and adds a bit more depth into its taste. The fries, on the other hand, get very salty when eaten with the Cane’s sauce. Although I enjoy the flavor of the sauce, I would recommend not adding too much sauce to the fries.
Although the Cane’s sauce can pair up nicely with almost anything, the best combination is the Texas Toast and the Cane’s sauce. The light and soft texture of the toast complements the heavy flavor of the sauce. This creates a delicious balance in flavor and texture.
Raising Cane’s is a mouthwatering fast food chain. For these fast food restaurants, I would emphasize the word restaurant. For the best experience, I would recommend sitting down to eat your food immediately after it arrives. This allows a not soggy Texas Toast and time to fully appreciate the Cane’s chicken fingers and original Cane’s sauce. This food chain has a very contemporary energy and would make a perfect place for students and young people to hang out and dine.
