There is nothing like the smell of an ice cream shop, the sweet aroma of all the ice creams and flavors drifting around you, the crisp smell of waffles floating through the air. Rice Culture, a new Taiyaki ice cream shop opened in Vienna has been blowing up on social media, and bustling with customers.
Rice Culture is an extraordinary restaurant that specializes in Taiyakis- which are essentially Japanese fish shaped waffles with a choice of different custards inside. You can eat these delicious Taiyakis by themselves or on top of their delicious softserve. The Taiyakis and Soft serves come in a variety of flavors like Ube (a sweet Filipino purple yam), Corn, and Pandan (a green sweet vanilla and coconut tasting plant.)
When you arrive, you order from touchscreens and find a table. After ordering there was less than a 10 minute wait and then after your dessert is made you get to choose from a wide selection of free toppings like sprinkles, coconut, Rice Krispies, Ube wafters, Pockeys, and Oreos. The ice cream was delicious, especially topped with the crunchy and soft Taiyaki.
A typical soft serve is $7.50, but they give you a generous scoop for the price. A soft serve with a Taiyaki is $8.50 and even though it’s $1 more for the Taiyaki, it was worth every penny. 1 plain Taiyaki is $5 but I would recommend getting a Taiyaki on top of your soft serve.
Overall the experience and atmosphere of Rice Culture was exceptional and everything from the decorations to theme was amazing! I would recommend this to anyone who loves sweet treats especially those who love Pandan and Ube but anyone would have a memorable experience at Rice Culture.
